So you're 60 years old, can you get to Everest Base Camp?
This question was asked quite recently, and the 'Age' topic does come up quite a bit.
The short answer is yes, absolutely!
Age, in my opinion, and some might have a different opinion on this, doesn't really matter when it comes to trekking to Everest Base Camp.
As long as you have that determination and a desire to want to get to Everest Base Camp, that's massively important. Obviously fitness helps and is important and of course, you have to be in good physical fitness but you don’t need to be a superhero, or an elite marathon runner just have a good general level of fitness.
The fitter you are, the more relaxed you will be on the trek for sure, especially when you're trekking at high altitude and your body's working overtime but we have had people reach base camp without doing any specific training, albeit with some difficulty. The more you prepare your body to easier the trip will likely be but we've also recently had customers who were almost 70, did little training and they made Everest Base Camp. It was a massive challenge for him, but he got to Everest Base Camp, had an amazing time and he now has something he will remember for the rest of his life.
The trek is a massive challenge, and if you are asking yourself, can I get to Everest Base Camp and you are around 50/60 years old. 100% with the right preparation.
We will help you as much as we can with your training and trip preparations so get in touch and we can send some info over to help with this.
