3-Day Mount Snowdon Summit Trek Itinerary
Arrive at the accommodation in the afternoon or early evening and take some time to settle in. Once everyone has arrived, you will meet your guide for a relaxed welcome briefing.
Your guide will talk through the plan for the weekend, check the weather forecast, and carry out a friendly kit check to make sure everyone feels prepared and confident. The rest of the evening is yours to relax, enjoy dinner locally, and get to know your fellow EverTrekkers.
After breakfast, you head out into the Carneddau for a full day of navigation-focused hill walking.
This quieter mountain range provides the perfect setting to learn and practice map reading, route planning, and navigation techniques while moving through real mountain terrain. With plenty of time to ask questions and put your new skills to the test, the day is all about building confidence in a relaxed and supportive environment.
You will return to the accommodation in the afternoon or early evening, with time to unwind, reflect on the day, and prepare for the summit climb ahead.
After breakfast, you travel to the chosen starting point to begin your ascent of Yr Wyddfa.
Your guide will select the best route on the day based on weather conditions and group ability. Options include well-known paths such as the Llanberis Path, Miners’ Track, PYG Track, Watkin Path, Rhyd Ddu Path, or the Snowdon Ranger Path. Each offers a different perspective on the mountain, from lakes and waterfalls to ridges and wide-open views.
At the summit, take time to soak up the achievement and enjoy the views, which can stretch across Snowdonia and out to sea on clear days. After your descent, the trip concludes with a short debrief before departing in the afternoon.

Difficulty:
Moderate
How challenging is the trek?
The Snowdon trek is a moderate but rewarding mountain adventure, offering a full day on the hill and a classic ascent of the highest mountain in Wales and England.
While it’s not a technical climb, the challenge comes from sustained ascents, rocky paths, uneven terrain, and changeable mountain weather. Depending on the chosen route, sections can feel steep and demanding, requiring steady pacing and good energy management.
This trek is very achievable for reasonably fit walkers, but it’s more than a casual walk. The reward is a true mountain experience and the satisfaction of reaching an iconic summit in the heart of Eryri National Park.
To Gauge Your Readiness, Here’s Some Helpful Guidance
Before taking on the Snowdon adventure, you should aim to be comfortable hiking for 5–7 hours with a backpack weighing around 5–7kg.
Your training hikes should include uphill and downhill sections, with a target total elevation gain of around 600–900 metres. If you can manage this at a steady pace and still feel able to enjoy the day, you’re well prepared for the trip. We recommend training 2 to 4 times per week for 4-6 weeks before the trip, increasing distance, elevation, and pack weight gradually.
Consecutive Walking Days
This adventure includes two full days on the hill, so doing back-to-back hikes over a weekend is a great way to prepare your legs and build confidence for consecutive mountain days.
With a bit of regular training, this is a moderate and very achievable adventure, offering a rewarding challenge without the need for technical skills.
What to Expect on the Mountain
Physical Challenge
Yr Wyddfa rises to 1,085 metres, and while altitude is not a limiting factor, the challenge comes from sustained climbs, rocky sections, and full days on the hill. The routes are well paced, allowing time to rest, refuel, and enjoy the surroundings.
Duration
Walking days typically last 5–7 hours, depending on route choice, weather conditions, and group pace. One day focuses on broader mountain travel, while summit day involves a steady climb from valley to summit and back again.
Terrain
Terrain in Eryri National Park is varied and classic Welsh mountain ground. Expect well-built paths, rocky steps, uneven trails, and high mountain slopes. Some routes feel more rugged and exposed, while others are more gradual, giving a balanced mountain experience.
Weather
Weather in Snowdonia can change quickly, sometimes within the same day. You should be prepared for wind, rain, cloud, and cooler temperatures, even in summer. Clear conditions can reward you with far-reaching views across Snowdonia, Anglesey, and the coast, but good waterproofs and layered clothing are essential.
This is a classic Welsh mountain adventure, offering challenge, variety, and the satisfaction of standing on the highest point in Wales and England, surrounded by some of the UK’s most dramatic scenery.
