The EverTrek training weekends have legendary status these days as both EverTrekkers and Yetis come together for a weekend of trekking in the scenic yet challenging Brecon Beacons.
Whether you're booked onto your first trek with us, or you’re an EverTrekker veteran, part of the journey is the way you prepare for each trip.
That’s why we created these training weekends where our CEO & Head Yeti Andy as well as Head of Global Ops & Painted Yeti Dave discuss your trek and get you fully prepared for your trek. Whether that be Everest Base Camp, Kilimanjaro or even on one of the 6000m peak trips, this weekend is well worth the experience.
So what happens on these weekends?
We created them with trip preparation in mind so these weekends are a way you can get those burning trip questions answered, check your gear is suitable for your trek, pick up some insider tips and tricks that can make the difference as well as getting to know the EverTrek team.
If you’ve seen one of our Tuesday Tune-In LIVE Q & A’s, just think of a weekend version of this with lots of trekking sprinkled in.
This trip is ideal if you have booked onto any of our high altitude treks like Kilimanjaro, Everest Base Camp or Machu Picchu as well as some of other higher altitude treks.
We will all meet at the accommodation and leave our bags whilst we head off for some food at one of the local pubs and get to meet the rest of the group.
Tonight is like an informal Q & A session as we talk about the upcoming trek. We'll also have our weekend briefing and meet some of the mountain guides who will be with us for the weekend. After a couple of hours, we will head back to the accommodation for an early night before hiking the following day.
After we grab some well-needed breakfast at the 'Base Camp' cafe next to where we are staying we will have a short briefing before we set off for a full day in the mountains. We normally spend around 5-7 hours out hiking. We will either take lunch with us or we will let you know about pubs or cafe’s that are on the route before you arrive so we can grab a bite to eat there instead.
This day is all about enjoyment in the mountains. We usually include a summit of one or a few of the local peaks but we will also go through some useful tips and chat about the trek in Nepal. We will talk about acclimatisation, hydration, pace and also what you will expect out in the Himalayas.
Once we get back we will relax before we can go through any of the equipment that you have brought along with you.
We will then spend the evening at a local pub for some well-earned beer and food.
Depending on weather and the group we will either spend another day out in the mountains on another route or spend time at the local activity centre where we can tackle the climbing wall and high ropes.
The day normally ends after lunchtime depending on the weather when you can then head home after an awesome weekend of hiking.
