Experience Rainbow Mountain
Rainbow Mountain stands as an incredible natural marvel soaring to a staggering 5200 meters. For us at EverTrek HQ, it's like a playground for Yetis, offering an ideal blend of high altitude, vibrant landscapes, and thrilling adventures!
The scenery in this entire region is truly something extraordinary. It's not just Rainbow Mountain itself that's spectacular; the surrounding landscapes are equally breathtaking. With sweeping views of the Andes and glaciers cascading down colossal mountain valleys, the panorama is simply awe-inspiring. Along the way, keep your eyes peeled for classic Peruvian wildlife like llamas and alpacas, all eager to strike a pose for that perfect tongues-out selfie.
So let's start trekking and explore what this awesome extension to your Machu Picchu trek holds...
A Colourful Itinerary
Day 1: Visit Rainbow mountain and return to Cusco
You'll leave Cusco around 5:00am and travel across Urcos, Checacupe for around 2 hours before arriving at Pitumarca where we'll stop and enjoy a buffet breakfast. After a short briefing with your guide, you will continue your journey towards the starting point of the Rainbow Mountain trek at around 4600 meters at the foot of the Ausangate snowfall.
Climbing steadily for around 2.5 hours you will arrive at the view point at an altitude of 5200 meters! Here you can appreciate the rainbow mountain in its full glory. You will have time to take photographs of this stunning place and after around 40 minutes you will start your descent hike of approximately 2 hours back to your waiting transport. After lunch you will head back to Cusco by the end of the day where you will stay the night at a pre-arranged hotel.
An awesome day extension to your Peruvian adventure.
Day 2: Depart Peru
The adventure is over but the memories will last a lifetime. We'll transfer you back to Cusco airport for your departure back to Lima and your homeward journey.
