How to apply for your Tanzania Visa for Kilimanjaro

Type of Visa required

Single entry travel visa (Also known as Ordinary Visa). This has a validity of 3 months with effect from date of issue and a maximum period of stay of 90 days.

Getting your visa online

  1. Follow the link to create a new visa application - CLICK HERE (We only recommend using this link as other websites may charge additional fees or risk being scams.)

  2. The first section of the form looks like this

3. After completing the first page it will bring you onto this larger form, asking you for a copy of your passport etc.

4. As the application progresses you will receive an e-mail message containing a User Identification Number which is used to track the application online - keep this safe!

5. After the form is completed you will be required to make payment

6. Upon successful payment, you can submit your application

7. Once an e-visa has been granted you will be able to download and print their visa grant notice to be presented at the point of entry.


EverTrekker Tip: The E-Visa can be applied for a maximum six months prior to the applicant’s travel. There is currently no express service for e-visa application.


*IMPORTANT UPDATE TO BE AWARE OF - Obtaining a Visa on arrival is no longer possible as of the 30th November*


As of the 30th November, all visa applications must be completed online and obtaining a visa on arrival will no longer be possible.

Since Tanzania Visa Application Service on online enables visitors to apply, pay for and receive answers to their visas without going through Immigration Offices or Tanzanian Embassy in accredited countries, from 30 November 2024 provision of visa on arrival service will not be available, and instead the service will be provided electronically, that means, only online visa application service will be available.
